Parents Learn More About Their Children's Right to a Quality Education

Understanding that parents are their children's staunchest supporters, LAUP recently held a Parent Advocacy and Community Organizing training, where parents learned more about their rights and responsibilities, as well as the importance of educating other parents about the importance of preschool.

During the training, held at Lennox Unified School District's Professional Development Center, parents learned more about laws affecting their children's education following preschool. They also received valuable information about how to talk to other parents about the importance of Early Childhood Education.

"The most important thing we accomplished was encouraging parents to stay involved in their children's education and tout the value of preschool," said Elsa Abundis, LAUP's Parent Engagement and Resource Supervisor.

"We also wanted them to understand the need of being involved in the interactive process, especially their children's schooling during that critical preschool year," said Ruby Duron, an LAUP Parent Engagement and Resource Specialist – Parent Alumni.

If you're a parent or caretaker interested in joining LAUP's Parent Alumni program, or wish to attend a future training session, please contact Ruby Duron at 213-416-1273.
