Family Engagement Support

Parents are their child’s first and most important teacher. When families are involved in their child’s early learning experience, they become empowered advocates for their child’s educational path. Here at LAUP, our Family Engagement Specialists support programs with tools and strategies to engage families in a meaningful and intentional way that create long term systems that support families on the development of young children.

Our team of experts work onsite with providers to support parents, focusing on:

  • The Strengthening Families framework from the Center of the Study of Social Policy: Five Protective Factors**
  • Child development
  • Parent advocacy for early childhood education
  • Positive discipline
  • Transition to kindergarten
  • Literacy
  • Potty training
  • Communication techniques
  • Developmental screenings and assessments and other key areas of family engagement

**The Strengthening Families model embodies Five Protective Factors that put children and their families on a path to well-being and school readiness:

  • Parental resilience
  • Social connections
  • Concrete support in times of need
  • Knowledge of parenting and child development
  • Social and emotional competence of children

The LAUP program has shown us how to get involved with our kids. It shows us how we should be. And that's what makes a difference.
